Cantamus String Quartet

Cantamus is proud of its own in-house String Quartet, managed by the violoinist Sui-Leung Chai, who has worked with Cantamus's musical director, Jeremy de Satgé since the 1980s.  This Quartet is made up of musicians from the Brook Ensemble and Brook Strings with whom Cantamus has a long-standing working arrangement.  Brook was set up in 1995 and has since grown into a sixty strong pool of dynamic young freelance musicians.  This gives Brook an enviable flexibility and an ability to tailor itself to the specific requirements of each engagement.  Although a lot of Brook’s work is done as a string quartet, it can also supply everything from a solo instrumentalist to a full Strauss orchestra with conductor.

Brook has performed in major locations throughout the country with prestige recitals in the Purcell Room and National Theatre on the South Bank, the Holywell Music Room in Oxford and London's Conway Hall.  At the same time, Brook - and particularly the Cantamus String Quartet - is just as happy playing light music, show tunes and jazz standard to give ambience to a private party of wedding reception.  If you need any sort music for any sort of event, why not give us a call?
